Time for yourself
What does time for yourself look like?
A forest stay with fewer distractions. Long soaks in New Mexico. A new place to explore wellness in Texas, or a private villa in Marbella. Four ways to give yourself a little more room.
A note from Aurum
A NOTE
FROM AURUM
Perhaps it’s a few days when your phone stays put and the next thing on the agenda is a warm pool. Perhaps you’ve been wanting to explore a wellness program more deeply, with people who can help you understand what it involves.
This month’s four selections take that question in different directions. What connects them is the chance to give something you care about—rest, movement, your health, or simply a little privacy—more room in your life.
At Breitenbush and Ojo Caliente, time in the water can become the part of the day you look forward to. The surroundings and the way you stay are different, and that matters. A shared table and an offline weekend will appeal to some; a private soaking tub and an unhurried dinner will speak to others.
Canyon Ranch Austin’s planned opening invites curiosity about a broader wellness stay, while Casa La Mariposa offers a private setting for a medically supported program. We would begin with what draws you to the experience, how much structure you want, and whom you would like beside you.
Give the part you look forward to more of the day.
The Aurum perspective
Breitenbush Hot Springs Willamette National Forest, Oregon
A little less to do.
A little longer to stay.
At Breitenbush, the day can take its shape from a soak, a shared meal, and a walk through the grounds. Personal retreats include vegetarian meals, access to the pools and sauna, and the daily well-being offerings. With no cell service or internet, there is a practical reason to leave the phone alone and settle into what is around you.
We would choose this for someone who welcomes simple surroundings and a little communal life. The pleasure is having fewer things to arrange: a place to sleep, meals already considered, and time to return to the water.

Four places.
Time for yourself.
From an offline forest retreat to a private medically supported stay. Consider the setting, the rhythm, and how you would like to spend your time.
01If you want to put the phone away
Breitenbush Hot Springs
Willamette National Forest, OregonYou would enjoy a forest retreat with shared spaces and simple comforts, and feel comfortable being offline for a few days.
We would choose this for someone who welcomes simple surroundings and a little communal life. The pleasure is having fewer things to arrange: a place to sleep, meals already considered, and time to return to the water.
What we would check
Soaking areas are clothing optional; swimsuits are welcome. Guests bring towels and additional bedding. The property is substance-free, with limited electricity. Room types and prices vary. Year-round lodging is listed; check the property’s current route and weather advice rather than assuming a winter closure.
02If you would happily linger in the water
Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa
Northern New MexicoOjo Caliente gives the water a central place in your stay. Spend time in the communal mineral pools, pause for a meal at the Artesian, and return when the light has changed. There are several ways to stay, from historic hotel rooms to suites with private soaking. That choice can make the trip feel quite different.
We would start with how much privacy you want. Some travelers will be happiest moving between the shared pools; others will value a private soak close to their room. Both can leave plenty of the day open.
What we would check
Check the exact accommodation and its pool access. Camping has different inclusions from resort lodging. The property reports pool-deck restoration and cold-plunge construction, so ask what will be operating for your dates. Day packages are separate from overnight rates. We have not included the unverified October offer.
03If you want room to explore a new practice
Canyon Ranch Austin
Spicewood, Texas Hill CountryCanyon Ranch has announced October 15, 2026 as the opening date for its Austin resort. Its plans bring together a destination spa, fitness spaces, outdoor activities, and health services beside Lake Travis. The Women’s Wellness Collective is part of the offering. It is a place to consider when you want opportunities to explore beyond your usual class or treatment.
We would build the stay around the experiences that genuinely interest you, leaving enough time to enjoy the setting. A long menu is useful when it helps you choose a few things you want to spend time with.
What we would check
As checked October 5, this is a scheduled opening, not confirmation that guests have arrived. Confirm the opening, which facilities and appointments will be available, and the exact package inclusions before committing. An on-site medical center does not mean every consultation, test, or treatment is included in the room rate.
04If privacy matters as much as the program
Casa La Mariposa by Buchinger Wilhelmi
Marbella, SpainCasa La Mariposa offers a more private setting for a Buchinger Wilhelmi stay. The former home of Maria Buchinger brings medical consultations and nursing support into a villa, with a garden and pool around you. Companions can be part of the stay, while participation in a program is considered individually.
We would consider this for someone already interested in a medically supervised program who values privacy and would like a companion nearby. The decision begins with the program and clinical suitability, then the setting in which you would feel most comfortable.
What we would check
Buchinger lists the villa as available from July 1, 2026. Confirm the number of program participants and companions, length of stay, price, and included services directly. Fasting programs require the provider’s medical assessment; Aurum arranges travel and does not determine clinical suitability or promise health outcomes.
ON OUR OCTOBER RADAR
A new place to explore, at your own pace.
Canyon Ranch has announced October 15 for the opening of its Austin resort. If the Hill Country setting and range of wellness experiences appeal, start by considering what you would want from a stay. The first available date does not have to be your date.
Dates & details
